In these bold and enticing paintings, Anna Rebek has explored the natural purpose of colorful creatures. All depictions of the species themselves have been accurately pigmented; the eight legged stripes, slick stingers, diamond scales, and florescent skin, all used to ward off predators and entice and confuse lazy prey. Likewise, these works are full of optical clash and extravagant scenery that celebrate the luxury of color in nature. These poisonous habitats invite audiences into the dangerous fury of color and the exotic.
Free and open to the public.
