PORT AUTHORITY RED LINE PROJECT IN BEECHVIEW STARTS MARCH 27 AND LASTS FOR SIX MONTHS
Port Authority plans to replace nearly a mile of aging and deteriorating light rail tracks in Beechview beginning in March. Port Authority will shut down this section of Red Line for approximately six months starting March27 to replace embedded tracks and street pavement in the center lanes of Broadway Avenue.
Here are some rider options:
A bus shuttle will run on Broadway Avenue from the Fallowfield Station to the Potomac Station every 12 minutes during am and pm rush. This shuttle will run every 30 minutes in non-rush hours, evenings and weekends. There will be no charge to ride the shuttle. It will stop at all existing light rail stops.
A Special Light Rail Shuttle will run between Potomac and Overbrook Junction Stations. Riders can connect with the Blue Line at the Overbrook Junction. This special shuttle will run every 12 minutes during the am and pm rush hours, every 20 minutes between rush hours and weekends, and every 30 minutes weekday evenings. This shuttle is free.
A special 42 Dormont bus will originate at the Mt Lebanon Station and travel to Downtown via West Liberty Avenue during weekday am/pm rush hours only. Riders will pay the standard Zone 1 fare of $2.50. 41 Bower Hill service may also be used between Dormont and Downtown.
The Blue Line will have additional trips throughout the day.
