I-376 CONCRETE REPAIRS CONTINUE THURSDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 13, AND THIS WEEKEND, NOVEMBER 14 & 15, IN DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH

This work has been canceled and will be rescheduled to minimize impacts on motorists since work will be occurring in other areas on the Parkway East tonight and this weekend.

Work to repair concrete on the Parkway East (I-376) in both directions will continue on Thursday night, Nov. 13, and this upcoming weekend, Nov. 14-15, 2008, in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County.

Work and restrictions will occur from 10 p.m. on Thursday to 5 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, and from 10 p.m. on Friday to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the following locations:

Lane closures:

*       Inbound (westbound): between Boulevard of the Allies on-ramp and Stanwix Street off-ramp (Exit 1B)

*       Outbound (eastbound): between the Smithfield Street Bridge and the Liberty Bridge

All ramps in this area will remain open.

NORTHBOUND LANES OF STANWIX STREET CLOSED BETWEEN PENN AVENUE AND FORT DUQUESNE BOULEVARD FROM OCTOBER 27 – MID-NOVEMBER

The northbound lanes of Stanwix Street between Penn Avenue and Fort Duquesne Boulevard will be closed until mid-November from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily to facilitate the installation of a new sewer line.

Southbound lanes of Stanwix Street between Penn Avenue and Fort Duquesne Boulevard will remain open.  Access to 625 Stanwix Tower and Parking Garage will be maintained from the southbound lanes of Stanwix Street only. Traffic exiting the garage may only turn right onto the southbound lane of Stanwix Street. Motorists may use Penn Avenue, Liberty Avenue and Commonwealth Place as alternate routes.

Ninth St. Bridge closing for a month, BEGINNING OCTOBER 1                                                                The Rachel Carson/Ninth Street Bridge will be closed to traffic starting October 1 and continuing through Oct. 31 for various minor repairs, including the surface of the concrete deck.  At least one sidewalk will always remain open for pedestrians.  Once those repairs are completed, work will move to the Andy Warhol/Seventh Street Bridge and then to the Roberto Clemente/Sixth Street Bridge. Mostly minor structural repairs, those two bridges will not require complete closure.

While the Carson/Ninth Street Bridge is closed, motorists should use the Warhol/Seventh Street Bridge as a detour. The 10th Street Bypass will not be affected.  Closing the Carson/Ninth Street Bridge means the Port Authority will be detouring 13 bus routes -- 11C, 11D, 11E, 12A, 13C, 13F, 13J, 13K, 13X, 16D, 1D, 1F and 6A.

STANWIX STREET TO CLOSE BETWEEN PENN AND LIBERTY AVENUES SEPTEMBER 8

The intersection of Liberty Avenue and Stanwix Street will remain open at all times.

Motorists can use Sixth Street, Liberty Avenue, Commonwealth Place and Fort Duquesne Boulevard as alternate routes.

Pedestrian accommodations will be installed and maintained during the entire construction project, although for safety purposes, the Gateway Triangle will not be accessible to pedestrians.
