Welcome to Downtown's true urban oasis! The historic Market Square is located at the intersection of Market and Forbes Avenue. Pittsburghers young and old are familiar with Market Square Downtown. Whether once a regular shopper at G.C. Murphy’s five and dime store (now home to Downtown's PNC YMCA), a businessman who enjoys lunch at the Oyster House, or a child who has eagerly awaited the arrival of Santa on Light Up Night®, almost everyone has heard of this historic Square or visited it at least once, if not several times.
Head down to the Square before or after a Cultural District show and enjoy dinner and cocktails. Get in a little retail therapy at lunch, spend your happy hour at one of the many watering holes, meet friends and co-workers for lunch meetings, or grab a coffee, relax and take advantage of the free Wifi.
After 10 months of renovation to turn the historic Square into a single-level piazza, Market Square has reopened. The popular Farmers Market is back and runs through November 18.
The Market Square renovation is a project of the City of Pittsburgh under Mayor Luke Ravenstahl. It is the culmination of several years of public process and has been made possible through the leadership, vision and financial contributions of the City of Pittsburgh, Colcom Foundation, Heinz Endowments, Richard King Mellon Foundation and The Hillman Corporation.

Fresh-roasted perfection! Attendees at the PDP's 2010 Annual Meeting were treated to a 12 oz. bag of a new Market Square Blend Coffee, produced by Pittsburgh’s own Nicholas Coffee Company in Market Square. This blend is an exotic combination of Columbian Sumatra, Ethiopian (mocha), Old Vienna (European Dark Roast) and Hawaiian Kauai —Mmm!
