I-579 Veterans Bridge Lane Closures Next Week in Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh– PennDOT District 11 is advising motorists that various lane closures and restrictions on the I-579 (Crosstown Boulevard) Veterans Bridge in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will occur daily next week, Feb. 7-11.
Crews will be measuring bearings on the bridge and ramps for an upcoming preservation project this spring. Only one lane will be closed at a time. Restrictions will occur as needed Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The $18.7 million Veterans Bridge Preservation Project Phase I includes bridge preservation and rehabilitation, painting structural steel, deck repairs and replacement, latex overlay, structural steel repairs, concrete substructure repairs, bearing replacements, neoprene strip seal dam installation, drainage system repairs, pin and hanger retrofits, highway lighting, signing and pavement markings. The prime contractor for the project is the Trumbull Corporation of Pittsburgh. Construction will conclude in fall 2012.
