PennDOT District 11 Weekend Construction Summary June 3-6
Pittsburgh, PA– PennDOT District 11 is reminding motorists several highway and bridge improvements will be occurring in Allegheny County this weekend, June 3-6.
All activities are weather permitting and subject to change. Motorists should plan their travels accordingly by anticipating highway work zones, slowing down, exercising patience and being safe. Below is a summary of the major closings and restrictions this weekend:
Parkway East (I-376)
Roadwork
Crews will be sawing and sealing concrete patches in various locations between the Grant/Stanwix Street (Exit 71) and Wilkinsburg/Forest Hills (Exit 78) interchanges on Friday night.
Two lane areas
Inbound (westbound)
- Single lane traffic from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday
Outbound (eastbound)
- Single lane traffic from midnight Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday
Three lane areas
Inbound
- Single lane closure (two of three lanes open) from 7-11 p.m. At 11 p.m. two of three lanes will be closed allowing only one inbound lane to remain open overnight through 6 a.m.
Outbound
- Single lane closure (two of three lanes open) from 7-9 p.m. At midnight Friday, two of three lanes will be closed allowing only one outbound lane to remain open overnight through 6 a.m. Saturday.
- All work will conclude for the weekend at 6 a.m. on Saturday.

Liberty Tunnel
The Liberty Tunnel (Route 3069) in the City of Pittsburgh will be closed in both directions from approximately 11 10 p.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.

I-79
Roadwork
Traffic in both directions on I-79 in Robinson and Kennedy townships will be reduced to a single lane from 7 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Monday between the Neville Island Bridge (Exit 64) and the Crafton/Route 60 interchange (Exit 60). Crews will be concrete patching.

I-579 Crosstown Boulevard
Bridge Painting
Single lane traffic in both directions on I-579 (Crosstown Boulevard) between the Liberty Bridge and Forbes Avenue in the City of Pittsburgh will occur from 8 p.m. on Friday continuously through 6 a.m. on Monday. Crews will be painting overhead ramps.

Guide Rail
Intermittent, short-term single lane and shoulder closures will occur in several locations on I-79 and the Parkway East (I-376) between 6 a.m. to noon Saturday for guide rail repairs.
I-79
- Southbound between the Glenfield (Exit 66) and Mt. Nebo (Exit 68) interchanges
Parkway East (I-376)
- Both directions between the Edgewood-Swissvale (Exit 77) and Monroeville (Exit 80) interchanges

Parkway West
Bridge Inspection
Single lane traffic on the outbound (westbound) Parkway West (I-376) at the Carnegie Interchange (Exit 65) will occur from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday. Crews will conduct routine inspection activities on the bridge that carries the outbound Parkway West over Whiskey Run.

Clairton Glassport Bridge
The Clairton Glassport Bridge (Route 2038) in the City of Clairton and Glassport Borough will be closed to traffic from 8 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Monday. The bridge carries Route 2038 over the Monongahela River between Route 837 in Clairton and Route 2001 (Glassport-Elizabeth Road) in Glassport. Crews will be replacing expansion joints on the bridge over the weekend.
