The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership has hired a new president and CEO.
Jeremy Waldrup, 35, who has worked for New York City’s Department of Small Business Services, will start with the PDP on May 16.
Waldrup has worked to manage New York’s 64 business improvement districts, helped small business and directed more than $2 million in grants to support commercial revitalization projects in the city. He has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a master of public administration from the University of Colorado School of Public Affairs.
Waldrup will move to Pittsburgh with his wife, Wesley, and two children and said he is excited to move his family here.
“Downtown Pittsburgh has such tremendous assets, including new public spaces, thriving cultural institutions and a growing residential community,” said Waldrup in a prepared statement. “I am looking forward to working with the staff and Board of the PDP to continue to support the momentum of Downtown.”
In the PDP’s announcement of the new hire, Rich Beynon, chair of the PDP board, gave the organization’s reason for choosing Waldrup: “Jeremy has many of the qualities we were looking for to lead this organization. We are quite excited to have someone with his experience who will bring fresh new ideas while remaining focused on our core issues of keeping Pittsburgh clean and safe.”
Waldrup replaces Michael Edwards, who resigned in December 2010.
