PITTSBURGH, PA - There is no place like Downtown Pittsburgh to experience holiday traditions, especially Light Up Night on Friday, Nov. 21. While it is sure to be a memorable evening for all who attend, such an event inevitably means street closures for Downtown workers, residents and visitors.
Presented by UPMC Diabetes Centers, sponsored by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and in partnership with Macy's, Santa Spectacular Show, Building Owners and Managers Association and the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, Light Up Night begins early in the day with special exhibits and activities throughout Downtown and concludes with the Macy's Fireworks Finale at 9 p.m. To accommodate pre-event set-up, large pedestrian crowds and post-event stage/vehicle removal that evening, the following street closures will be enacted.
10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
3 - 10 p.m.
4 - 10 p.m.
5 - 8:30 p.m.
6 - 10 p.m.
As a result of these street closures, the Port Authority will reroute many buses. For a complete list of bus detours, go to www.PortAuthority.org or call the Port Authority Service Center at (412)-442-2000.
This year, the best place for viewing the Macy's Fireworks Finale is the re-opened city side of Point State Park near Commonwealth; the river side of the park will remain closed except for access to the Fort Pitt Museum.
