Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership Names New President and CEO

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) announced today it has hired a new president and CEO to replace Michael Edwards who resigned in Dec. 2010. Jeremy Waldrup, 35, of New York, NY will assume his new role effective May 16.

“Jeremy has extensive experience managing the city of New York’s 64 Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and working directly with small businesses,” said Richard Beynon, Chairman of the PDP Board. “Jeremy has many of the qualities we were looking for to lead this organization. We are quite excited to have someone with his experience who will bring fresh new ideas while remaining focused on our core issues of keeping Pittsburgh clean and safe.”

For the past seven years, Jeremy has worked for New York City’s Department of Small Business Services, most recently holding the position of Assistant Commissioner of District Development. In addition to managing the BIDs, Jeremy directed over $2 million in grants to support commercial revitalization projects throughout NYC. From 2004 – 2007, he oversaw NYC Business Solutions Initiative and launched seven NYC Business Solutions Centers, which provided access to programs and services for businesses to help them start, operate and eventually expand.

A graduate of The University of Colorado School of Public Affairs, Jeremy received his Master in Public Administration and certificate of Non-profit Management. He attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics.

“Downtown Pittsburgh has such tremendous assets, including new public spaces, thriving cultural institutions and a growing residential community. I am looking forward to working with the staff and Board of the PDP to continue to support the momentum of Downtown," said Waldrup. “It’s an exciting time for my family and me to move here and experience all that Pittsburgh has to offer. I am thrilled to call Pittsburgh home and become a resident of the Most Livable City.”

Jeremy will be moving his wife, Wesley, and two children to Pittsburgh from Brooklyn, NY.

The PDP launched a local and national search for the executive position in January. The Search Committee was led by PDP Board Member, Thomas Grealish of Henderson Brothers and included members of the PDP Executive Committee and Board.
