PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) signed a three-year contract with Bloomfield-based Server Co-location and Internet access provider, aspStation, Inc. to manage the Downtown Wi-Fi system. The company has been managing the system temporarily since this fall when the PDP terminated its contract with US Wireless Online.
“We’re pleased with the service aspStation has provided over the past few months, and after reviewing our options, believe they are a good fit for Downtown customers longer term,” said Mike Edwards, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership.
Downtown Wi-Fi, launched in September 2006, was funded by seven different Pittsburgh-based foundations and its success has exceeded expectations of all stakeholders with over 5,000 user sessions per month and a network that has continued to perform well.
