Pittsburgh's annual tradition designed to jolt people into the holiday spirit is returning to the city Friday, when the 48th annual Light Up Night officially kicks off the holiday season.

Some 200,000 people from the tri-state area are expected to attend Light Up Night, where they can enjoy numerous yuletide sights, shows, activities and shopping throughout Downtown, plus a few activities at Station Square across the Monongahela River. Favorites of the festivities include the unveiling of the gingerbread houses and train display at PPG Place, the unveiling of the Macy's window displays, and the Tree Lighting Spectacular at One Oxford Centre.
