
Did you know that Pittsburgh's St. Patrick's Day Parade is the second largest St. Patrick’s Parade in the USA? The parade consists of 23,000 participants, 200 marching units including 18 marching bands, huge floats and many other groups representing several Irish heritage and other ethnic heritage organizations in the region. This year's parade takes place on Saturday, March 13 at 10 a.m.
150,000-250,000 spectators are anticipated to attend this year's grand event. Hopefully, we'll have clear blue skies and sunshine for this year's parade! Parade participants will include 2010 Grand Marshal, Retired city policeman Robert Conroy , Miss Smiling Irish Eyes 2010, along with St. Patrick Himself! The Pittsburgh St. Patrick's Day Parade is sponsored by: The Irish Society for Education & Charity, Inc. and produced by: Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee.
New Parade Route for 2010:Unlike years’ past, the 2010 parade will follow a newly established route. Parade formation will begin at the Greyhound Bus Station at the intersection of Liberty Avenue and 11 th Street. Staging will take place from the bus station and away from Downtown to 26th Street. The parade will proceed from the intersection of Liberty and 11 th Streets to Grant Street to the Boulevard of the Allies, where it will turn right. Proceed on the Boulevard of the Allies to the Reviewing Stand at Stanwix Street, then disburse at Commonwealth Place.

March 13 - Market Square merchants open for business
Location: Market Square, Downtown Pittsburgh
With the Square under construction, the normal St. Patrick's Day festivities will not be taking place this year in Market Square. However, the merchants will be open for business and you'll likely find some green beverages and various specials at many of the Square's watering holes, including: Original Oyster House, Primanti Brothers, Fat Tommy's and Moe's Southwest Grill.
