Pittsburgh Cares Emerges as Clearinghouse for Clean Up Volunteers - August 27, 2009

Pittsburgh Cares has taken over coordination of volunteer assignments for all clean up efforts related to the Sept. 24-25 Pittsburgh Summit 2009. Downtown-based Pittsburgh Cares was founded in 1992 with a mission to create "a new way to volunteer" by offering a more user-friendly, flexible approach to volunteer service.

There are two main G-20 related clean-up days: Saturday, Sept. 12, and Friday, Sept. 25. Read more.

World Affairs Council Beefs Up Web Offerings, Plans Panel Discussion and Student Summit in Advance of International Conference - August 21, 2009

The World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, long an international affairs educator to students and the community at large, has stepped up its work in advance of The Pittsburgh Summit next month.

The nonprofit organization has launched a Pittsburgh Summit Web page rich in information about the gathering of leaders from 22 of the world's largest economies, who will meet Sept. 24-25 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown. A week before the summit, the Council will also sponsor a panel discussion about the meeting in the context of current economic challenges, and a G-20 forum for high school students. Airport Open for Business During Summit, but Travelers Urged to Allow Extra Time, Check for Delays -  
August 21, 2009

Pittsburgh International Airport will be open and operating during The Pittsburgh Summit next month, although travelers should allow extra time to get to the airport in the event of possible highway traffic delays.

The Allegheny County Airport Authority, which operates the commercial airport in Findlay and the general aviation airport in West Mifflin, said today that no information is yet available about possible disruptions in air traffic during the Sept. 24-25 conference.
